Rebekah Grace Rose Barsotti, born December 28, 1987, was a vibrant soul, a devoted daughter, a passionate dog mom, and a woman who loved the peace of the mountains and the joy of hiking with her beloved Malinois, Cerberus. She was strong, kind, thoughtful, and full of light — someone who brought laughter and love into the lives of those around her.

But behind her bright spirit was a story far too familiar: a story of escalating domestic violence, of being unheard, of reaching for help only to be met with indifference and missed opportunities. On July 20, 2021, Rebekah went missing under suspicious circumstances shortly after fleeing an abusive relationship, filing domestic violence charges against her estranged husband, obtaining an active Standing Order Of No Contact, and attempting to rebuild her life. She was failed by a system that didn’t recognize the danger she was in — a system that still resists accountability.

Rebekah's story highlights the urgent need for awareness and reform in addressing domestic violence and missing persons cases. Her family's pursuit of justice has shed light on systemic issues within the legal system, including the handling of domestic violence cases and the treatment of missing persons.  Rebekah represents countless victims of domestic violence who are dismissed, blamed, or left unprotected — even in death.  Her voice was silenced, she was made invisible, but her story must continue to be told.

Through Rebekah's Legacy, her family and supporters are committed to honoring her memory by promoting change, providing resources for survivors of domestic violence as well as families of missing persons, and educating the public and legal professionals about the complexities of these issues. 

Rebekah's life and legacy continue to inspire efforts to create a safer and more just society for all. Rebekah deserved so much more.  Her life mattered. Her story matters. And we will never stop carrying her light forward.
