5 US Senators introduced bipartisan legislation - Help Find the Missing Act "Billy's Law".
On December 14, 2022, by a Congressional vote of 422 yea's to 4 nay's, Help Find The Missing Act "Billy's Law", was passed and will be signed into law.
We will continue to promote the legislative changes our first letter campaign suggested.
Proposed Legislative Changes –
1) When a missing person is also a victim of domestic violence, that case should be immediately elevated out of the county level to the State’s Department of Justice and FBI.
2) When you have a victim of domestic violence go missing, homicide should be considered first instead of never.
3) When a missing person that was a victim of domestic violence is later found deceased, the estranged spouse should not automatically be deemed the Personal Representative of the deceased missing person simply because they are the spouse.
4) In states that have separation requirements before filing for divorce, there needs to be an escape clause for victims that are separated due to domestic violence.
We will be creating another letter campaign soon. It is our hope that the 5 Senators that introduced the bipartisan legislation and other State Senators received so many of the first campaign letters that they now know your name Rebekah Grace Rose Barsotti!

THE LETTERS FOR THIS CAMPAIGN HAS ENDED.
We have created 2 form letters for this campaign.
The first set of letters are already pre-addressed to each of the 5 Senators that introduced the legislation we are supporting but asking for additional provisions. All you need to do is download/print, date, sign, indicate your address, and mail. At the end of the first set of letters we have also included a separate page with the names and addresses along with the link for each Senator's email contact page if you chose to contact them by email.
The second letter is a fill in the blank letter. For this letter all you need to do is download/print, date, address to your Senator, sign, indicate your address, and mail. To find your State Senator’s address and contact information use this link:
https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm
You can also address the second letter to your State Legislators. Follow the same process as above: download/print, date, address to your Legislator, sign, indicate your address, and mail.
You can find your Legislator(s) in the State of Montana using this link:
Legislator Lookup - Montana State Legislature (mt.gov)
To email a letter just copy and paste the form letter into the Senators/Legislators email contact page. Make sure you fill in the blanks prior to submitting.
